Our Progress this year

We have made a lot of progress on our game these past few weeks. We've finished three levels. The problems get harder after each level. Our game is about addition man a superhero who saves the world by answereing math problems. For the people next year that take this class embrace it and have fun.Sometimes it gets hard in this class but as long as you don't stress and get your work done on time. One of the funniest things we did in that class was to make a team name and Team page. Don't forget to pick on Mr. Lester once for me.

Our game has come a long way from being drawn on paper to being made in flash. I'm dustin I am the artist of the group I draw everything in flash and on paper. Alexis shes our team leader and shes also the person that does the codes for the game. Then theres Brittney shes our souund manager she finds sounds that go good with our game scenes. All of us together are the Lean Mean Gaming Machines.

My New Experinces in Flash

The last time I blogged about flash I knew very little. I know much more know then I did at the beginning of the year. Now I now how to use expand, explode,blur, and drop shadow. Another awesome thing I learned is character effects. Character effects is a lot of simple action script codes that change your movie clip character. You can make him wider or make him taller . We are almost finished with our game we just have a few more scenes left. Also we just got a few more level.

Eastern Greenbrier Middle

Eastern Greenbrier middleschool had a few games I enjoyed, but none I could really relate to. There games didn't really help me any on my game. My favorite one of all those games was the racing one Datonia 500. You have to race to the answere. It didn't really help me any, but I do have a few suggestions for him. I think he should make the track a little bigger. He should also make it more challenging by putting more racers on the track besides just you.

Our game was very difficult to present because all of our slides were different. A great thing about our is that it was easy to present. The reason it was so easy to present is because we knew our game very well. The globaloria team thought we had a good game. They also said we did a good job at making our game fun and educational. Were not gonna change any thing they said they liked it the way it was. Our team page has the rest of our pesentation on it.

Before we can present our game their is alot of work to be done. Like we had to do our power point. There are eight slides it tells about many things like whats fun about it how to play it.

What gave me the best ideas to put in my power point was watching the seventh graders do theres. Watching them gave me inspiration and it taught me to think outside the box and try new things to put it in our power point. There were parts of it that was hard to do like trying to explain our game. The easiest part was explaining the fun fator. That is whats fun about our game. After your done with your powerpoint you have to put things on your team page.

Jordan Mcclanahan

On january 20, 2010 there was a tradagy when Jordan Mcclanahan was on the court. He was on the other end of the court when they took the ball out and he just collapsed. All the coaches ran out onto the floor and started trying to help him to his feet. After a while he didn't get up so they took us to the locker room and the whole team prayed together. After we prayed our team went to sit with Joseph when we were on our way to sit with Joseph we went through the gym and we seen Jordan laying there and they were trying to do cpr. We prayed with Joseph for a few minutes and then he had to go to the hospital were Jordan would be. I went to the hospital were he was but they wouldn't let anybody see him. About thirty minutes later they pronounced him dead and everybody was crying.Now I try to remember the good times we had like back in football season when us the Sandy River Tigers won the championship.

Are math games fun

Yes I think math games are fun because one website is www.funbrain.com it was a lot of fun. They take the fun and the boring and make it all fun while you learn. Another good website is www.mathplayground.com it has a lot of things to help older kids like who are in middle school like me. So yes I believe math games are fun if you can relate to what the game is about.

Math Games

I liked the math games that we played a lot yesterday but my favorite was tran star. In tran star you got to flip different shapes. In each level you had to figure out how to flip it to get to your goal. Also each level is called a zone each zone gets harder the higher you get in the game.

Also some of the zones have powers that help you win the game. The goal is to get the shape over the line so you get to the next zone.

Working with Adding Navigation

I think adding navigation was hard at first. There is alot to remember like fixing all the layers and you have to name them and you have to make a button. There are some things I do like.

when ever we made our title page it was pretty easy. Also making a layer isn't very hard at all its actually kind of fun.

I've had a lot of new experiences this year like we are in a team and we picked what are game is going to be about. Are game is going to be about an addition super hero who saves the town of Iaeger. We also have made a Team page and our team name is the Lean Mean Gaming Machine.

In our game you have to solve addition problems why flying around.You have to find the right answer.

My Likes and Dislikes about Flash

My favorite thing about flash is when I get to draw. My dislikes in flash are when I don't get to draw in flash. I also don't like copying the codes in flash. Another thing I don't like is when you try to make a scene and one thing goes wrong you have to fix everything. I don't like when I have to save my things or publishing my things on Flash. The reason why is because, it takes a while to find it in my folder I saved it in. Over all I think I like flash a lot.

I am part of the Lean Mean Gaming Machines. My role in our team is the artist I draw everythig in the game. I am the best for this job because I enjoy to draw. I think it is a lot of fun to draw thats why I was happy when Igot this job. We had a disagreement about some of the colors on the game I didn't want pink but we settled for one building to be pink. I look most foward to making the characters on the computer i think it will be fun and challenging. The inspiration for our game I think would have to of came from comic books.

What I think about Educational Games

Well, I played a lot of games but some of my favorites were Katrina, Dafur is dying, and consumer consequences. On Katrina I learned how to make a platform game. On Dafur is dying I laerned that you can still play an educational game and it can be fun. The educational games can teach you a lot it may teach you a life lesson it may even help you excerzie. I think games create a good learning atmosphere. Thats why im happy to be in globaloria.

I was very excited when we got put into groups and when we got to pick our team names. My groups name is the lean mean gameing machines. The people in my group are Alexis,Rebecca, Brittney, and finally me Dustin Jackson. Another thing Im very excited about is how our game will turn out I think it will be very interesting we already have a few ideas. It has been really fun workng with my group because we all get along very well we all just enjoy being around each other thats why we work so good together. Also one of the most exciting things was when we made our team page.

I've enjoyed golbaloria very much and I have learned so much like how to blog and make my gmail. The thing that I find most fascinating is that they let us use computers so much. I think its cool that we know things that no one else knows like how to use flash. Since we have used playing to learn I,ve learned and have got to use flash. I played one out of each subject but my two favorite games were Katrina and dafur is dying.

I think the internet is a very safe way if there are responsible kids using it and adults watching them. Internet helps kids alot with there education and it makes learning alot funner and easier. The internet at school is as safe as we make it like when kids are in school teachers are wathing them and making sure there not playing around or goofing off. I think we should keep internet in schools because its an important part of the day when we learn new things about computers and math or any subject.

I'm happy to be in globaloria but also very suprized to be here normaly math is usually difficult for me. This year I plan to work as hard as I can to make sure that I finish by my dead line. Also I plan to make a video game that will help student learn in math but in a fun new way that will teach you something new. There are also things that I'm very afraid of like getting behind or lost in class or maybe even messing up.

I picked this video because it teaches you the 50 states in a fun way and I plan to do the same in my video game in math.
